Major progress since we last spoke. Its official. Jacksonville's public school system has an all new urban debate league. More than seven middle schools with over 150 debaters will engage in policy debate competition. This is the first year in history that Jacksonville has introduced "urban debate" in area schools.
The initiative is funded by Title 1 funds from each school. Students will be closely monitored as the League grows over the next 5 years in local high schools and on the college level. League founder, Jermyn Shannon El, seeks to incorporate a high levels of technology and 21st century educational tools to assist students, parents, educators and debate coaches in the transition to global learning.
